I have always considered the iPhone camera to be great for action shots and Dan Chung has proved the theory with some stunning shots from the Olympics. Thanks to Steve.
That is a very good action shot from a camera. I wonder how many were binned.
Normally out of 50 odd pictures you might get 1 excellent shot, 2-3 very good, 4-5 good and the rest are only good as snaps or for the bin.
Elsewhere the general view is that the pictures are good mainly because he's an excellent photographer and the image quality sufficient for smaller screens. The main benefit is that he gets to upload his pictures from on site instead of at the end of the day, and could have got better quality images with a DSLR equipped with wifi adapter and a phone or mifi hotspot.
Overall then it's smart publicity part gimmick part clever journalism.
Panasonic tried the same tactic stating that some famous journalist was going to using one of their micro4/3 cameras and not traditional DSLR.
