How important is the physical look and feel of a Smartphone compared to its software and other ergonomic features? For me most modern Smartphones in the £400-£500 are well built so the other aspects are important to me like screen size and battery life. Thanks to Jah for the question.

It'll affect my decision but I wouldn't go for the One-X's good looks over the S3's. Too many compromises with the One-X.
Actually I really like the look of the blue S3 and the grey Note II. The negative reviews of its appearance before I bought the S3 put me off a bit, but I was still going to buy it. Then I checked out a blue one in a shop and my concerns were allayed.
I wasn't that impressed with the S3 design and build quality when I first purchased it as I spend most of my time using the screen and UI and bit like a car, it may look good from the outside but you actually spend most of your time inside the car). But now I use S3 not without a case, I am now really liking the design ;-)
Important. Spending top money I want top finish. Hence why my S3 got sold and I have an iPhone.
I want something that feels solid. Not heavy but well made. I'm not that fussy with looks but if it looks good, to me, then obviously that's better.
OK, design counts and a lot! - it's the very first impact on us.
Then again... can someone explain to me why the best and most gorgeous phone in the market today (and for the last years) needs to be covered with a case in order to be able to keep that great look? I find it daft. Such fantastic visual should be for everyone to admire and yet they are all covered up. The iPhones I see look terrible in those cases. So, what's the point in having such good looking device? It really is elegant, although a bit fragile...
