What was the most disappointing mobile device you ever bought or used? For me it would have to be the Next Android tablet or iMate Ultimate 9501- both were shocking.
My first mobile phone was a Sony Ericsson mobile phone that turned into a DECT phone when it got within range of your home base station. It was this genius idea that convinced me to finally get a mobile phone.
Unfortunately a small amount of pressure on the case would cause the phone to turn off completely, which meant I had to walk very gingerly if I wanted to avoid missed calls.
Returned and swapped for a teeny tiny Samsung clamshell which worked beautifully. Never went near another Sony Ericsson after that.
The only other mobile device that's ever disappointed me is my Transformer Prime. It's just not stable enough and certain things are way slower than they should be. When it's back from RMA I'm sticking a custom ROM on it.
Oh, and the iPod Touch. Loved the hardware, hated the restrictions. Sold it to my ex-gf for way less than the market rate. She loved it and now has an iPhone.
My first Window Mobile phone (HTC Touch 2) after a Palm PDA. Smaller screen, smaller RAM, slower CPU. Well, it did prompt me to upgrade to a Palm Centro.
I bought a Palm IIIc on a nascent ebay from someone who'd managed to brick it. I was able to reflash the ROM to bring it back to life but was so disappointed in it, I sold it on within days.
Sony almost immediately brought out their hi-res colour devices which were better in nearly every way and I defected - SJ30 & TH55. Hold-on, Apple copied the TH55 for the iPhone...stop the presses!
Anything running Symbian - tried three times and found it to be a dreadful experience. The N95 is lauded by Symbian fans as a classic handset, but I wanted to smash it with a hammer. I hated it.
The HTC Tytn seemed OK, but repeated Windows Mobile crashes and hardware failure after just a few weeks ruined the experience for me.
Finally, the Ericsson T68 from 2002. First colour screen. It was horrible. And very, very slow.
Sony Ericsson Xperia X10. Worst phone ever. Came with Android 1.6 on it (this when Gingerbread 2.3 was most current OS). Slow and laggy to the point of being unusable. Sony really dragged feet on updating (they finally put out an update to 2.1) and I don't know that GB ever made it to the U.S. version. Turned me off to Sony phones forever. Oddly, I did put a GB build on it (good old XDA!) for another region and the difference was absolutely amazing. But by then I was totally soured on the phone and sold it.

None that I can think of really. Never kept anything that long.

The first iPhone. For all the excitement, the lack of 3G, GPS and cut and paste meant it got put in a drawer, in favour of an HTC Desire.
Palm IIIc
