Question: Your favourite gadget?

What is your favourite non-computer gadget? For me, it would have to be the apple peeler- completely mechanical, but wonderful and still a gadget in my eyes.

I bought a tin/can opener at the ideal home exhibition many years ago. It's still works perfectly. What's clever about it is that it has no sharp edges or blades. It effortlessly removes the actual tin lid, not cut thru it. Not many realise that the top of the tin or can is simply pushed on. By removing the top this way, no sharp edges are left. The opener also has a beer bottle cap remover at the other end. This makes this the best non electronic gadget ever.

Radio. I love BBC Radio 4 and so have a radio in my office in the car and... on my phone.

For those not in the UK, Radio 4 is not a music station. It is effectively akin to a high-quality television channel (BBC2, probably) and broadcasts great news, drama, comedy and current affairs programming throughout the day. No adverts!

Other than that, I use my Victorinox SwissChamp army knife every day. It has 33 tools and is still pocketable. I used the scissors, pliers, screwdrivers and knives most often. Haven't used all the tools yet, but good to know I have them with me, just in case.

Do we count remote controls as non-computer? If so, my MX500 is mine. I have two in case one breaks.

If you mean non-electronic we have a Kitchenaid can opener that is a breeze to use. And since we have 10 cats, it gets used all the time.

Same as Statto. My little Swiss Army knife is the best Christmas present I've had.

Currently the new ice cream/sorbet maker, but that could be because I've just finished a very nice sorbet :o)

Or the candy floss machine; seriously for £30 you can't go wrong!

And then there's the pasta machine.

And the wifi scales that send my weight to the internet so I can easily keep track of just how much weight I'm putting on.

Actually I forgot to mention the bread machine. Simply wonderful.

Then there's the Nespresso coffee machine. The best coffee everytime.

Then there is the egg boiler. Boils eggs up to 8 in one go and they can be soft, medium or firm. Perfect every time.

Then there's the Gordon Ramsay Grill. Piece of xxxx hardly used.

Oh yeah; I've got the Gordon Ramsay Bamix. It's the hand-blender Chuck Norris would use! Put in a few ice cubes, blitz it and you've got instant snow!

Erm, there may be better uses for it...

My car is a pretty neat gadget,,, though it has some kinda computer chip on board I'm sure. My Swiss Army knife has literally circled the globe with me several times... I've always loved my bike as well. Anyway, I think I may have missed the point, so I'll leave it at that!
