Question: retired devices?

What do you do with your retired devices?  Sell them on ebay, exchange them for cash or pass them to your children? Thanks to Jah.

Mostly passed on to relatives or friends unless I can get enough from selling to get another gadget. (MacBook Pro sold to buy iPad sold to buy MacBook Air, iPhone traded to get S3, etc.).

Always sell them, first offering friends as all my old devices are normally still brand new condition and not that old. I still have an ancient fujitsu siemens windows mobile 5 pda and an iPod touch 2g lying around. The windows PDA has games on it not available elsewhere or don't play as well as other platforms and the iPod touch 2g is a music or games machine. Depends if my kids have it, if so its gaming.

I give them to family or keep them in a drawer for years until I finally throw them away.

I go for top dollar on eBay. Gearing up to sell the 4S, now, in advance of a new iPhone, and hopeful that it will go for around £450 - £500. That's a hell of a chunk towards the next shiny thing.

I tend to use mine until they die or are totally obsolete, in which case no one wants them. I also darn my socks: don't like throwing stuff away.

By the time I'm done with them they're generally too old to sell. My HD2 is still in pretty immaculate condition but I can't see me getting much for it, so for now it's sitting on the side wondering about its fate.

My Touch HD I gave to my (now ex) gf. That's not why she became an ex...

A previous feature phone I gave to a friend.

The HD2 might go to my mum if she fancies it. She's a bit of a technophobe but you never know, especially if I put JB and Swype on it.

Most have been so old that's they're not worth anything so I hand them in for recycle. I've given a couple of things to my son and my wife has my old iPad 2.

In the past they either went to my (now ex) wife since she tended to lose or break hers before I did, or to someone in her family, I tend to always keep something as a back up, but my last Samsung S went to my daughter to play games on, take pictures with and listen to music etc. When one of my workmate found out he just about fell off his chair since he would have bought it. But my daughter is over the moon and she takes pretty good care of it for an almost 8 year old.
