Very rarely on my MacBook. You know the expression out of sight, out of mind. For whatever reason, I forget they're there. Plus there's no built way to keep them on the desktop so many are of limited use. Plus with the web and apps that sit in the menu bar, there are many other options.
Yes just one - App Launcher v3 - This way I have a nice neat way to have icons on the desktop, without having icons all over the desktop... At work I have a few, weather and currency converter are added to the launcher one..
As you could see in my post of the screenshot, I have my desktop pretty clean. Just a clean look clock on the right and a widget mac style on the top that is invisible. Only appears when mouse touches the top and I can find there all my main programs to run. The advantage? I can be on any program and start a new one very fast: just slide the mouse up and click. Yet you don't see anything on desktop (apparently).

Not at all.
No; I rarely see my desktop so I don't bother with widgets.
No — but I rarely see the desktop, so there would be little point.
Me neither. My desktop is pretty clean.
Actually I don't even have app icons on my desktop. The apps I use most are pinned to the taskbar and the rest are on the start menu

Yes, 1 screen with widgets on my Mac. One teletext, Remember the Milk and a calendar widget to name the most important.
