QOTD: Will you buy an iPad 3?
Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 4:00AM Will you buy an iPad 3 after it is announced in early March? If so, what improvements does it need to make you purchase and would a retina display with a better battery life be enough to make you upgrade? For me, it has to be smaller. A 7" or 8" iPad and I am in- a better display and battery life are no way near enough to make me buy one.

No, absolutely not. The apps i currently use most (newspapers, spotify, teletekst for example) on my iPad don't need a faster processor or a retina display. Spending another 500 euro for minor improvements (related to the software i use) is a waste of money. A new design would make me doubt. A few days ago I played with the Sony Tablet S. That device has a very..very comfortable design.
Definitely yes. I want retina display, and I love the current size!
No. I will wait for the rumoured stylus driven Samsung 7 or 11 inch tablets.
I'd be very interested in a smaller screened version. I can hear my bank manager locking down my account as I type!
No probably not. I've found the iPad 2 to be a bit too limited for my normal day to day and doubt that any improvements planned for the iPad 3 will address this. The iPad had a fantastic suite of apps available, but aside from Flipboard none are actually relevant to my needs. As a result the iPad is used mostly by my children.
With double the resolution and a faster processor, yes. And my iPad 2 goes to my wife, as planned :-)
I do a lot of reading on my iPad and expect a retinal display will make that easier on my eyes. Plus I expect that there will be lots of new apps that take advantage of the available display and power.
"Yes"
Day of launch. Simple as. The display was the only thing I would change about the iPad - it looks lovely, but the definitition isn't all that high. Hey, it's 2012 and I don't think I should have to suffer *visible* pixels!
Interested to see if the use the launch to announce Microsoft Office for iPad. That would be another instant purchase. It's clear that the iPad is becoming a great machine for productivity as well as consumption.
I do wonder what old apps willl look like on the new screen, however. Blocky?
I think it's nearly time to list my pristine 64Gb iPad 2 on eBay!
I won't buy one nor will I buy a Samsung Note.
Not tempted enough. I'll keep the Android route.
Not immediately tempted, but I'll wait until I see it — if it improves the reading experience, then I may well buy one, as I read so much on my iPad.
I'd need to sell my current one, though!
