QOTD: Do you insure your phone?

Do you insure your phone? If so, how - individual phone insurance, household contents policy etc.? Or do you think phone insurance is a scam?

I have checked that phone insurance (in for smartphones) is covered by our household contents. I also get free phone, again Inc smartphone insurance through my bank. I tend to think insurance sold with phones at time of purchase I'd a bit of, no, make that a big, rip-off

Rogers has a protection plan as part of their plans. I don't think you can opt out for a lower rate. And since their rates are comparable to all other major providers in Canada (all overpriced compared to the rest of the world), it's sort of a bonus. I don't know about the other providers.

The phone is also covered under various other policies without any special riders. However, the phone itself would probably be less than the deductible so the Rogers coverage is nice.

Like Statto, household content insurance covers that handset, only laptops (high price, highly portable) need to be declared, but they too are covered.
As far as I am concerned, it is the data on the handset that is more important than the handset, and it's backed up at all times.
