PlayBook OS 2.0 released

In what could be considered the biggest ‘too little, too late’ move in the tablet world since they became popular again, RIM has released PlayBook OS 2.0. You get an email app (yes, really) and many other new features. I must admit that my opinion of the PlayBook is not great anyway so I am not sure what this will bring that can possibly help RIM’s tablet ambitions. It is the next OS that will hopefully do that.

I've been looking forward to this update for a while. I bought a Playbook on a whim - smaller than an iPad and a cheap deal I couldn't walk away from - and it has been great for watching films on planes. I wanted a bit more than that, but portable office functionality (specifically spreadsheets) is absolutely pants, whatever your mobile OS persuasion. I'm hoping that the new OS 2.0 will spark some decent development, but I'm not holding my breath. The MacBook Air still goes in my bag wherever I go.
