Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750
Wednesday, August 22, 2012 at 3:31PM I am tempted by the Logitech Wireless Solar Keyboard K750, but not sure it could replace my trusty Apple standard effort. Saying that, the keys look very flat which is a bonus. What about you- do you prefer ergonomic, clicky or flat?
The solar-powered wireless keyboard that makes battery hassles a thing of the past in a streamlined, comfortable design.

If I lived outside, that might be tempting...
Don't have to live outside, Neil. I own the Mac version and it doesn't require much light at all. I've had mine for about 3 months and my office is rather dimly lit but the battery hasn't gone below 100% in the time I've had it. At worst, you can put it in a brightly lit room to recharge.
Personally, I love mine. Bluetooth peripherals eat batteries like there's no tomorrow. This uses RF which in and of itself uses much less juice. The typing feel to me is better than the Apple keyboard (but I've always been really partial to Logitech keyboards). I highly recommend it. And the Mac version, at least here in States, is actually $10 cheaper than the Windows version, something you don't see often.
Interesting!
Not for me, as I'm not a fan of dongles for IR reception, so I'll just recharge the batteries in the Bluetooth keyboard, but, if it can charge from room lights, and so just absorbs energy already paid for, that's rather good, though.
Either the Solar power cells are very good, or Donald has plenty of natural or incandescent light in his office. Most Solar Power cells I have encountered perform poorly in florescent lighting (probably due to a lack of Infra-red I would suspect).
My previous watch, a solar powered Casio, couldn't survive office life in England, kept going flat unless I took it off and put it on the window-sill for most of a day at least once a week. My current watch, Citizen, has a solar cell which works in all light conditions.
David, my office is truly dimly lit. The KB doesn't require much light to stay charged and Logitech says the battery is good for 3 months without charging at all. There are, I believe, 6 solar cells in the panel above it and they're quite large for the size of the keyboard. The battery was charged at 100% when I took it out the box and has stayed there (I just checked now - it's still 100%). The solar cells are much larger than the cells on a watch! Look at the photo above - all the area to the left and right of the Logitech logo is solar cells.
Neil, Logitech just came out with a BT solar keyboard as well (that wasn't available when I bought mine else I'd have opted for that one instead). The only downside is that it's marketed as a tablet keyboard and doesn't have a numeric keypad - minor issue if you're not an accountant!
