E-ink smartphones

I wrote about the possibility of e-ink devices offering more than just reading a while back and it seems as though my wishes may be coming true. Check out the video below for a demo of an e-ink Android smartphone. (via Clove Blog).

I have got to say that the comment in the video about the phone on the left being at maximum brightness has to be a lie. There is no way that LCD is maxed on brightness. I have never seen a newer phone LCD that is that dim. IMHO

One obvious problem with e-ink at night is no visibility, but great during the daylight hours.
e-ink is also considerably slower is screen responsiveness too.

There are better alternatives available now.
